@terrymadison Picking on the left? I'm leftist myself, but that doesn't mean I have to condone the language choices of fellow leftists. Like you said: People are complicated, which means that it's not only FOX and the Christian Right who can be hypocritical or incendiary. This isn't an ideological war of Right vs. Left, and I refuse to isolate the two sides by acting thoughtlessly. Urging people to have some self-restraint in their language is hardly an assault on the First Amendment.
