That is the beuty. The land is ever changing. Stagnation is never beautiful. The flower is only beautiful in one single moment and then the moment is gone and the flower changes. It is the way of nature.

The legal situation is that Iceland will of course honor its obligations but only in accordance with European law. Also it is never fair in any country to let a nation pay for a private bank. If you want capitalism the banks must pay themselves for the debts that they get in. A nation is not responsible for private banks nor any other private company.
