This Video is part two in a three part series about softboxes. It's showing how to create a simple three light set up to shoot a model. Part two shows how to apply the science of part one to a real life situation. The art of creating light is a language all its own. The language of light is the emotion that light creates in the viewer. Its not enough to know the science of using a soft box, you must understand how light effects people. This part introduces the idea that light is a language and it can cause different emotions in the viewer. Thanks to Photoflex http://www.photoflex.com for providing the boxes for this demonstration. This is just an introduction to the idea that light causes emotion. We will talk about this often. The Language of Light. Keep on click'n! Jay P. Morgan

  • Very informative videos but I echo the music thing. Not needed mate, so please lose it. Also, it would be VERY helpful if you could make these available as MP4/MOV downloads somewhere. the FLV files from YouTube are impossible to watch on some devices. Many thanks.

  • @parkylondon Thanks for the feedback. I will work on getting the videos available as a MP4/MOV download.

  • The music and the intro/outro logo are annoying.

  • @YLark Thanks for the feedback.

  • In the first video, you demonstrated the coverage and effect (wrap) of the different sizes of soft-boxes very effectively with your wall scale. However, you barely mentioned the grid laid over the top of the softbox right at the end of the clip. Why use the grid? Why not just a smaller softbox? Does it just allow you to give a "smaller" look with a larger softbox? What other reasons would make one want to use a grid? Thanks for the vids.

  • @jkddaddy Grids cut the area of coverage down. The area of coverage is much less when using a grid. This make it easer to control the light because its not lighting as big an area and you can use it to light specific things or people. I like them for that reason. They are a narrow source of light.

  • Nicely done! Very helpful.

  • @parkylondon If you are using firefox there is a add-on called Easy Youtube Video Downloader 5.4. Install it and you should have a link below the video to download video in the MP4.

  • The information is excellent but the presentation needs some work. Music is horrid in every video. Doesn't fit at all. iMovie has an excellent music collection that u can use and would be much much better.

  • Why are there so many shots of the video rigs and equipment? I can understand when it has something to do with what you are talking about, but there are countless shots of just the unrelated video rigs whilst talking about soft boxes.

Great work in content, just keep that editing succinct ^_^
