This video takes you quickly through the process of pulling an espresso shot on a semi-automatic espresso machine. Though the video is shot in two takes, it has been edited to real-time. One thing you can't see from the video is that the beans are fresh. I roasted them myself and they had rested for about 4 days when I shot this. Without fresh beans, none of the other stuff matters.

  • how much those machies cost for expresso? I planning to buy when I am adult..

  • @proswampert The Expobar Brewtus 2 cost about $1500 when they came out. Expobar is on the 4th generation of the Brewtus and they run more in the $2000 range.

  • what should I do if my shot went blond a little to early? I think it went blond about 20 seconds.

  • How fresh are the beans? If they're past about 2 or three weeks old, your shots will blond early. Get fresher beans. If the beans are fresh, you may consider grinding finer (unless that gives you too little volume in the shot) or using slightly more coffee for each shot (updose slightly).

  • What coffee is this? I own a Brewtus II as well

  • It's Sweet Maria's Monkey Blend that I roasted on a Gene Cafe. It's been over a year since this video and the Gene died. It's been replaced by a Behmor now. When I don't have time to roast, I've had great success with Intelly Black Cat, Metropolis Red Line and Vivace's Dolce and Vita blends. I'll be ordering some Counter Culture pretty soon here to give that a try.

  • I bought a mr coffe for like 40 bucks and its nothing like this when you pull it its just watery black coffee just like the drip kind .. how do you get it thick and creamy like that?

  • I wouldn't level the grounds like that, in fact you should hardly ever move them after filling the portafilter. You more often than not disturb the coffee so that once you tamp, you'll have lighter and denser spots throughout the coffee. You can also over-expose the ground coffee to the air and allow a little bit of oxidation, but more importantly a loss of the bean's CO2.

  • @fredfal Respect. Do you own a shop?

  • @sharpanator 14g is one technique for making a double shot of espresso. Most double baskets hold anywhere from 14 to 19g of espresso depending on the basket size. Triple baskets that hold 22g are not unusual. I tend to dose in the 17g range.

  • omg freaking beautiful i now need to own a bottomless portafilter
