Mac OS 9 and others before it totally deserve this piece of rant. The reason Apple bought NeXT therefore had Steve Jobs back to take over the company was mainly because they couldn't manage to modernize the old Mac OS which was, by then, already pretty much unfixable since the kernel was ancient and lacked much of the technologies a modern OS should have.
