@roxyboo17 I think the whole tattoo thing Castiel did not bother removing because Dean would need it to avoid the chances of being possessed by demons in the future. Remember Dean was not cremated and his body was buried whole, so only Castiel healed Dean's old battle wounds "supposedly" but why take away the tattoo mark which had protected and still protects Dean from becoming easily possessed by demons? I'm pretty sure that is the reason for the tattoo staying and the scars fading.

@roxyboo17 I think that because the tattoo was made on purpose it stayed, because all the other scars were battle scars, so he didn't actually want them.

@roxyboo17 Well, if Cas pull him out of hell, he healed Dean because I bet he was torn to pieces. But I don't think Cas would have a reason to remove the tattoo.
