The Brown professor says that perfect mathematical models are ultimately too perfect, and can seduce economists into ignoring imperfections

  • @JohnnieNaked , they are only bad when they are applied incorrectly and incomplete and short sighted. Read up on Long Term Capital Management. Their mathematical models failed fantastically because they mirrored the narrowness of perspective of the people who wrote them.

  • I suppose it's slightly coincidental and ironic that someone sharing his last name has built a career by seeing the world from a completely opposite perspective. I've often wondered how illogical the quants could be so as to seek to measure, quantify and predict something that they don't understand (human behavior). Equations are only as good as the information that is used form them.

  • Mathematical models are bad cause they are smart AND beautiful hehehe

  • Let us add to the video message:

... allow the PROMOTION of this and that model once in a while according with "external" interests, to obtain certain results. Not only!...

... The so called DEBT, are debt to VIRTUAL loans...

    ... Thus deserving VIRTUAL interests...

... BUT there is no DEBT where the loan is virtual and a FAKE.

... There is a crime of FRAUD.

Now guess who makes the "rules"... so called...

  • An analogy:

Using an excellent computer to build a not very good program....

... and transfer the computer qualities to the bad program.

The program is the model, the computer is mathematics.

... such is the transfer that disguise the model.

Now let us add to it: (NEXT))
