In 1975 one of the little known masterpieces of Rock--the Armageddon Album came out. Lyrically it is a continuance of Keith Relf mystic poetry from the Yardbirds and Renaissance/Illusion. Buzzard was the first track of the Armageddon album. Keith Relf, Martin Pugh, Louis Cennamo, Bobby Caldwell,

In order to really appreciate Keith Relf and understand what he was saying in those obscured lyrics in the Yardbirds, Renaissance, Illusion and Armageddon, one needs to keep in mind he was a neither an ordinary 60's rock star, nor an ordinary Psychedelicized musician. He was a visionary rock star, artist, trying to follow a yogic, ascetic-like path. falling off and getting back onto the path, fighting with temptation and the conflicted, innate stupidity within human beings--the treachery within and without. His words that may seem like riddles and nursury rhymes at times, also carry powerful admonitions to humanity.

He was not concerned with fame and fortune and had not sold his soul to Rock and Roll but was clearly immersed in a inner struggle with the forces of good and evil, His intensity is well known to people who have seen him perform. His harmonica was outrageous, based in the blues but penetrating into an area that harmonicas never have gone.

The theme of how pride and arrogance can cause a spiritual repetition of the hell of incessant suffering, appears in Buzzard. "Bridges that you thought you crossed, gonna have'ta cross-em all again." The video here, is my own interpretation.

The video is a collage and borrows some generic, common images seen in google images. If any copyright owner objects to the use of any of the images, notify me and I will remove the image from the video. There is also Whitecap software used for the animated visualizations. Some additional music and sounds of my own and a brief fragment from the Little Buddha film and a video of a circling buzzard.

  • @triplettam thank u it shouldent be foregoten, and thanks for showing them to me never herd this befor

  • Thanks rialcnas. Fantastic stuff that shouldn't be forgotten.

  • Keith Relf is a bad ass, always. Bobby Caldwell played with Johnny Winter, if it's same guy, and is really good at bashing drums. Cool music. Thank u.

  • @68generation I love his mystic-ness. He strikes me as a very spirtual person, and one who probably got cast under the wrong stereotype. To me, there is no other who can like Keith. He was surely one in a million. And he seemed to be very 'moody.' Not the modern meaning of moody, but the way it was used in the 60s. A very cool, sort of moody person. Hip. :) And devastatingly handsome as heck!

  • I agree with your description of Keith Relf. He was a mystic and he was not concerned with fame or money, in fact he died poor and sadly, too young. This is one of the best videos I've seen on Youtube, real good job and a fantastic tribute to a musician who has been so unfairly underrated.

  • @rialcnis I sure hope you do, it would be such a rare piece of music!

  • @rialcnis Sure hope you'll find it, it would be a such an emotion for me!
