The Island of Time. Right here. Right now. It's like just one of many islands in a vast sea of forever. So what is thought of as important by these denizens is of no actual significance in the grand scheme of things.
The audio is an early and not too good recording on cassette at a time when I was still learning to play the piano. I had to teach myself whenever I could get to a piano on the road. It's basically like playing a guitar, you're playing cords unless youre a virtuoso who was born with a gold spoon in your mouth and somehow have access to a piano four to six hours a day for practice. All I can say is, "must be nice...".
The visual was a photo shoot I did in a shopping mall in San Diego, California. Now, malls are horrendous failures. The only reason they ever succeed is because of exclusivity, and monopoly, and a bunch of other things, like public ignorance and apathy. They are recipes for disaster and we are going through one such disaster now in 2009. I mean, I'm not going to candy-coat this thing for anyone. The only reason they exist is lack of supervision and accountability.
