An Act of Murder (also known as Live Today for Tomorrow and I Stand Accused) is a 1948 crime film directed by Michael Gordon. It was entered into the 1949 Cannes Film Festival.
1949. And this question of assisting the terminal patient still haunts humans. To those who are not in the position of assisting a terminal patient in complete pain who advocate a Super Knowledge of the Right to Life are Insane. Those of us in this position say these Holy-er Than Thou's are full of there own fears and have no say for those of us who deal with this issue every day.
With Frederick March & Edmund O'Brien as the stars one can hardly go wrong. There are some nice legal and moral arguments here, but no conclusion on euthanasia was reached, which is just as well as that is a very controversial matter that could have quite undesrable side-effects if legalized. Btw nobody mentioned that the judge was obviously guilty of attempted suicide which is presumably illegal in Pennsylvania too, and wouldn't an autopsy have been conducted automatically? Thanks.
Great movie, thank you so much. Writing is excellent. Is it Brain Cancer, they never really said, or did I miss it? Demerine? Obviously a reference to Demerol or Meperidine for pain relief. If this were written today they might very well cure her, if its Brain Cancer, with Medical Cannabis. Today's medical research, despite the U.S. attempts to prevent any such research, has proven that Cannabis i.e. Hash Oil in capsule form aggressively kills Cancerous Cells & Tumors. Sorry I went off topic.
A- This is kind of a difficult topic to address without coming across as overly melodramatic and cheesy, but I think that they got this one right. Well scripted, casted, and acted. A-
