Steam being more efficient than diesel? Sounds way too good to be true! I'm all for it!

this is an excellent video, in my country INDIA, we too have started to convert some heritage lines like the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, and Ooty (in south India) with oil fired boilers although they are not absolutely new built, but yes oil fired still gives good efficiency as well as less smoke and the lines still retain the vintage outlook.

they smell nice :P
you dont get smoke if you burn clean coal, "anthracite"
what with deplenishing oil suppl, and increasing cost. wouldnt coal be fairly useful

That sounds promising. There is something much more marveling and romantic about a Steam Locomotive when compared to a diesel or electric.
