  • Great vid, very nice design! Is the furnace your own design? A vid on the construction of that would be fantastic.

  • @67Spectre Thanks, yes my own design. I never thought of making video of building it when I put it together several years ago, so nothing to show but the results.

  • nice one! How do you keep your workshop so clean?

  • @QCTechnologies With a shop vacuum cleaner. Seriously, I like to to let stuff buildup till I can't find some tool or I have no more room on the bench - then I clean it up. No joy in working and trying to keep track of small parts in a mess. Thanks for your comment.

  • what material do you use for casting mold???

  • @kgeorgejunior The patterns were made MDF and the parts were molded using home mixed green sand.

  • Aluminium?

It was brought up as a joke by a friend of mine to build a steam powered laptop, ie the steam engine generates electricity to power the laptop, I took it as a challenge and have designed a double expansion steam engine. I have access to aluminium, brass and bronze, and would like to know what material you used for your engine. I was told by the retired F&T/sparky engineer, who works at the trade guild, that aluminium isn't idea.

  • I could imagine you building a mobile forge that could pour directly into your part moulds? And I could imagine you could make your moulds out of a concrete form thats hinged? Ingots continuously feed and pour into casing forms; nice assembly line where all the parts are ready for finishing and assembly? Has a commercial steam engine ever been mass produced like that? Seems most of the photos I've seen all engines were floor built.

  • Great work! have you considered selling kits? made from your castings?

  • wow incredible
