The much anticipated Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) are due to come into force on 1 October 2011. Under the AWR, an agency worker is entitled after 12 weeks in post to the same basic working and employment conditions as he would have received for doing the same job had he been recruited directly by the end user. There is considerable concern within the recruitment sector and amongst hirers about the effect of the AWR and concerns that they will have an adverse effect upon the much valued flexibility in the UK temporary worker market.
In this video, Christine Jenner, Partner, and Penny Hunt, Associate, in Davies Arnold Cooper's employment department, discuss with Gordon Paterson, Client Services Director at Hyphen Recruitment Outsourcing what practical steps hirers and agencies should be taking to ensure that they are ready for the new regulations.
