  • Can anyone tell me about the effects of AD-2009-16-03? It's the AD concerning the SAP cylinders failure. I'm thinking of buying a Bellanca that has the IO-520-K engine and I would like to know about any feelings or experiences anyone has with the problem mentioned in the AD. Seems to me that compliance would be costly and the frequency of compliance suggests that failure of those cylinders could be rapid and still possible even with compliance. Your thoughts would be welcome. Thank you.

  • @Rikki0 I only know of one BSV affected by that AD. His cylinders were replaced for free.

  • Great find on the video. So do any of that type of flying(towards the end of the video) in your machine?

  • Never, that would be illegal!

I did do a demo ride in 1977 with a guy who owned a large part of Bellanca. We didn't do a Hammer Head but did everything else. Holy crap!!!

  • Is this plane faster than a Cessna 182?

  • They are pretty much the same speed on the taxiway. When they get into the air the Bellanca is a little faster. See my web site 160knots~com.

  • I think bellanca and mooney are probaly two of the best airplanes made.

  • I flew one of these several times a few years ago. You don't ask the plane for a roll, it asks you. A very unique airplane and a real joy to fly.

  • @BBFjetboat Agree...Can't beat the value either. I see these for 30K used, Mooney M-20Cs for even less! Probably my favorite twin is the DHC Caribou. Check it out, it is one sweet airplane!

  • WOW!!!!!! no wonder why this suckers cruise at 165 KTs

  • We went flying in my Mooney 201 today and going flying in my friend Rich's Super Viking tonight. We won't be doing any of those kinds of maneuvers though! Excellent video!

  • Waaaah! I want one!!!!

  • Love it, thanks for posting. I have a 78 Turbo the same black and silver as in the film.

  • Nice video! It appears to snap roll quicker than expected. I own the '79 7ECA. I was told that it was one of Bellanca's demo planes' at Oshkosh. Thanks for the video!
