DESCRIPTIONS OF EACH FILM BELOW
_______________________________________
My portfolio of films i made in my junior year (second year of taking a film class).
Each separate film starts with bars and tone.
The first one is kinda bad. What we originally tried to do was emulate the window in the beginning of Citizen Kane. For those of you who arent familiar with that, there is this big castle and one lit up window stays in the same spot from shot to shot. We shot the flag with the same idea one day and our tape got stuck in the camera. Unfortunately, it didnt come out the same when we reshot it. Actually, it was NO WHERE close but ehhh...it's decent.
I like this second one. We were told to do a "place film". The idea of using lights and shadow's struck me and, with the help of my dad, i shot it and my teacher loved it. The music is from the Bourne Identity soundtrack. Pretty straight forward.
The third film is called a metaphor film. I used a poem to gather all of it's main ideas metaphorically and express it visually. Oh yeah...and i randomly found a machete in my garage and i HAD to use it hehe. It works, tho. The scene with the flower close up has audio inspired by Lost. Fans will know what i mean, i think, even tho it sounds very synthetic here. When everything is moving really fast, the audio is from the first Call of Duty 4 trailer.
This final film is my favorite by far. This is a match cut film. My dad is the guy walking toward his car in the beginning. The kid playing basketball is my friend's brother. I am the kid in the old car at the end. The volume at the very end of the film is really loud for some reason. I'm happy with the way this one turned out in particular.
I used adobe premiere to edit these videos. I used itunes to get the music (for the most part). I found a great site for sound effects: http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/
Hope you all like it!
