This is a surgical debridement of a large diabetic heel and achilles tendon ulcer. There is osteomyelitis in the calcaneus (bone infection) which required resection of the bone. Antibiotic beads and a Graft Jacket were applied. The Graft Jacket is a Wright Medical product. This is an extensive debridement of the area.

  • I wish I could have been a nurse. What were those sutures on his leg for?

  • @kathybrisky I believe the sutures you are speaking of on his leg were from his vascular surgery. Best Wishes.

  • Why the hell do you show us that ?

  • @KlimKlim4 I put this on YouTube to hopefully influence diabetic patients to take care of their feet and prevent this from happening to them. If it saves one limb, then it has been well worth it. Best wishes.

  • I LOVE this channel!! I'm applying to pod school and this is GREAT alongside shadowing! THANKS!!

  • @KrautGoesWild Very important that diabetics have their feet checked by an expert at least yearly. Most should be treated with routine foot care and checked every 9-10 weeks. Best wishes.

  • My dad is severly diabetic (and due to a removed brain tumor mentally disabled) and the first thing the doctor checks on our regular visits are his feet.
