The red dust storms of central Australia reaches the east coast of Australia. Expose on the potential the Olympic Dam uranium mine and its radioactive tailings will have if the expansion is approved.
hey busted.... that's alot of messages... sorry to hear you're not so well.i guess taking on Big polluters trashing the neighbourhood can do that. there's pretty well nowhere left, so u gotta get well & balanced inside yourself to operate at best.
i spent a fair while on york peninsula.....luv that ocean...cheers& goodluck with the good fight... be in touch anytime
BHP want a Desal plant on the East side of the bay and a Bulk iron Ore jetty (heavy dredging required) on the west side, ontop of the Cuttlefish ground.
The EIS makes no mention of Anti corrosion and clogging agents expelled in the exaust water into an area that simply can't flush this level of salinity.
The Cuttlefish lay once a year, then die, so the eggs are the only link, laboritory tests show that salinity alone will reduce successfull hatch hugely.
@ionplanet. For 18 months Santos was leaking oil into the bay from corroded tanks, the did not disclose it to either the EPA or the towns people. When they were forced to, we were there with a camera and were ordered by the Mayor not to film. I went out to the Cuttlefish point and was harrassed, stalked by a Santos Guard on public land at a tourist site. Then they reported my vehicle to the intel section of the police for suspicious behaviour at a petroleum refinery.
@ionplanet, Sorry about spelling, grammor, I'm not well.
If you look at the area on Near Earth, the bay where the Santos refinery is, was where our place was, they forcefully aquired a brick house for $8K in the 80's, the council rezoned the area Petrochemical Industrial, with no public consultation, then started to rename it Port Bonython. Many people live there and this is the primary recreation place for the town, extremly important dive site for habitat of the Giant Cuttlefish.
@ionplanet, My health is not so good and this fight has a lot to do with it. I was followed, survielled, pretty sure I had a death threat, then people infiltrating the group, corrupting/ loosing supporter data base, then best of all, they started rumours that I was secretly working for BHP and not to talk to or trust me. Two BHP Lawyers leaned on a Dance Troop for making a protect show. I'm farely sure state election fraud was planned, but ruined by our actions
@ionplanet, Sadly no!, I've been seeking such. I spent a lot of time fighting BHP on this, so I made a lot of footage of the area they are going to destroy, to show off its beauty, make a doco. I could not believe how corrupt the council were in this, icluding letting BHP use their vehicles for EIS study of Whale, Dolphin, Shark population by standing on the shore!! I grew up there, know it intimatly, we had a shack in the bay theu are destroying.
No doubt you have heard about their plans for the Cuttlefish breeding ground at Point Lowly?, the EIS is falsified, they claim no impact on Australian Giant Cuttlefish spawning ground, despite a bulk Ore loading jetty on top of them and the Desal for Roxby next door. I personaly witnessed their Thuggery, most of the town of Whyalla is afraid to speak, some very afraid. I have plenty of footage.
@ionplanet, Ah that wonderfully accurate EIS, this would be the one that BHP refuses to answer questions on in a public forum. The big Australian Thug!

This is a unique species to the area
