$300 to buy an Audio Reflection Filter?! Not when you can build one that looks and performs the same for less than 30 bucks!! This step-by-step video shows you how to build my homebrew version, the Mini Studio. View the companion video "The Mini Studio Audio Introduction and Materials Needed" for A-B comparisons and details on the materials for this neat device for your Home recording studio.

  • His name was Jimmy Durante, a song and dance commedian from the 1930's who was popular on TV in the 1950's. He also sang "Make Someone Happy" in the movie "Sleepless in Seatle". So I guess I'm in good company!

  • The results are subtle, but if you're serous about home recording and don't want to build a soundproof enclosure, this is the next best thing. And, thanks I sure am lucky to have such a nice workshop!

  • Sorry, I don't have them in a written format. Maybe you could get a friend to transcribe them for you?

  • A reflection filter minimizes the reflected sound from the environment (walls, ceilings, etc)...it's not an anechoic chamber.

  • You never know!

  • Like always, it depends (on the microphone used, the singer, etc.) That's why the Mini Studio has a depth adjustment to let you set it for the best performance in any situation.

  • @CALICOTV301 Where should the mic be?

  • Thank you. Very well done. Professional demonstration that is easy to follow and understand. Thanks again! Wonderful job instructing!!

  • @CALICOTV301 Im currently in the mix of making this guys little creation and i agree, the sound must escape. So what i did was get foam that was 1 third not as thick as what hes got and i took the time to carve diamond holes in the stirophome with my halloween pumpkin carving set,i have yet to put the foam on to test this but this may be your solution to that!

  • @J0S3YL0CZ530 I can't know if you have a hearing impairment or not, but while it was a bit fast paced, it was easy to follow. Respectfully your request is a "'tall order", to use a common phrase. Considering a written article would have to include illustrations to be a good useful article. With my brain injury that brings me a mix of impairment, support accommodation, but I give the creators of free content a break. Hope you find a way to get this constructed if you need it.

  • I seen the intro vid., personally I couldn't hear the diff., I suppose when the target audience complains about the audio quality it's time to make adjustments. This how to video probably as good as they get. Hand tools could get the job done. Even with working with the sheet stock, if construction was modified. Appears that you have a nice well equipped shop, you lucky dog ;)
