Madeira Floods - Worst Storm in 100 Years

The Portuguese Island of Madeira was struck by a violent storm which has killed at least 32 people so far (20/02/2010) in what is to be considered Madeiras worst catastrophe of the last 100 years. Flooding of the entire city of Funchal and landslides pretty much all around the island, swept away cars and knocked down houses as this violent storm took the Island by surprise.

** Update 21/02/2002 **
The number of deaths has rised to 40. Over 100 injured and about 200 remain unknown.

** Update 21/02/2010 - 18h00 **
Number of deaths rises to 42. Schools will be closed during the next days.

** Update 22/02/2010 - 21h00 **
Official death tolls remain at 42. Authorities predict that there are 17 in the two bottom floors of a Shopping Center (Anadia), which is still full of water.
Teams work night and day.

Eu as vezes nem acredito na humanidade, sinceramente fds há pessoas que morreram, outros desaparecidos e uma grande maioria perdeu o trabalho de uma VIDA INTEIRA! @SUPERVlS0R Not so, We got flooded out, because a dam 200 miles away broke. We did have rain fall here but it was nothing. compared to what they recieved!

Hello, I'm from Madeira, and that day was just leaving the club Vespas, until I decided to come home early when the rain paused. The next day I woke up with a call from my boss saying that it was not necessary to come to work .. and I was amazed when he told me to turn on the television, and then I started thinking ... and if not sooner left the disco? On the same day I went to Funchal to help clear the wreckage.
