Shure PG42USB Microphone

Last time, we tried the Shure PG27USB - possibly the most 'useable' USB mic I have ever tried.

That meant I had to hear the 'big brother' to the 27USB. ...the Shure PG42USB, billed as a 'vocal' mic

PG42usb or PG27usb? The PG42usb comes with case and shockmount worthing 100 dollar. But the price difference is only 50 dollar. Does it mean that the PG27usb is better than the PG42usb in this case? PG27usb sounds kinda crisper and colder, while PG42usb sounds warmer and silkier. I wanna buy a mic for vocal cover. I heard that flat frequency response is good for reproduction, while the PG27usb is flatter. But I prefer the original sound of the PG42usb. So confused of me. Can you help me out?

Gotta say that the 27USB is my all-time favorite. As you said, ultra crisp for voice.

For accuracy, the 42USB has the edge.

Hard to say if it's better, since most mics are a matter of taste and use.

Personally, I prefer the PG27USB over the C03U and PG42USB. The 27USB doesn't come with the nice shock mount, but I was very impressed with the sound and performance.

...just my opinions.

Not sure about being 'officially' certified, but it did work fine on my Win 7 Home Premium and Ultimate 64-bit machines.

i bought a shure PG42USB from internet and i ve a problem ....when i record sound with that mic ...everything is totally disappointed coz my sound has low noise which is very bad ...for ex. your vocal is so clear no noise but i record and low noise with my vocal.....i used every function but sounds crab could you kindly tell me what shall i do?? I'm planning on upgrading from a Samson C01U ( for recording vocals). Will the Shure PG42USB give a significal improvement or should I rather go non-usb? I would be willing to invest a maximum of 350 $, so I was thinking to go for this mic. Just wanna hear your opinion. Thanks.

I've had my eye on this for awhile now. Thanks for the video. This just gives me more reassurance of how great of a mic this is. Buying this for $250 is a steal. Other comparable sounding mics are selling for $1k+.

@NewMediaGear yeah, i found that the bass of the 42USB is kinda too small. so do you think the shockmount is necessary? if not, i would like to go for the 27 as you said. LOL

Where have you bought this one, because I've been looking for this one to buy, but then I find one, there's only the microphone and no picture of something else included.
