pop music..respect to mute records

Walk with me
Open your sensitive mouth
And talk to me
Hold out your delicate hands
And feel me
Couldn't make any plans
To conceal me

Open your sensitive mouth
Hold out your delicate hands
With such a sensitive mouth
I'm easy to see through
When I come up
When I rush
I rush for you

Cry for you
Seen the tears
Roll down from my eyes for you
Heard my truth
Distorting to lies for you
Watched my love
Becoming a prize for you

Seen the tears in my eyes
Heard my truth turn to lies
Seen the tears in my eyes
I'm not proud of what I do
When I come up
When I rush
I rush for you

I come up to meet you
Up there somewhere
When I rush to greet you
My soul is bared

Gave more for you
Dropped my crutches
And crawled on the floor for you
Went looking behind every door for you
And because of the things
That I saw for you
I spiritually grew

When I come up
When I rush
I rush for you

  • Wow! After some 18 years, could this be an unlikely contender for Mode's finest hour? Quite possibly.

    Part 3.

So I did not even buy the album back then, only heard it on the Walkman of a friend. I was listening for good songs, but only RUSH got my approval. I went to the Devotional-tour concert in Budapest, but I ceased to be a "depeches" after that.

I kept on searching for the sound of the times, synthetizers, sequencers and drum machines, found EBM, then Techno, then Acid and finally Goa Trance...

Now, after 20 years, I repent and I bow before the true greatness of SOFAD! :)

    Part 2.

So, imagine my shock when I heard "I feel you" from SOFAD the first time on MTV!

Instead of the techno sound of Violator, instead of hearing modern music made by sequencers, synthetizers and drum-machines, what I heard was ROCK music made with guitars and drums!

This was just one shock! The guitars in Personal Jesus was dicey in its time as well, but... what blew me away was the long haired, bearded rocker guy singing in a striped suit."Who the fuck is...OMG! Its Dave!"

    I can tell you why.

A teenager in 1993, I was a Depeche Mode fan.

The music of Depeche represented the sound of the times to me: created by sequencers and synthetizers only, it was the most modern music in my eyes (in my ears :) ). The lack of classic musical instruments like guitar meant the sounds I hear were never heard in the past before.

With being a "depeches" came a certain style: short hair like Dave's, dressed in all black, Dr.Martens boots and a black leather jacket.

  • I never understood why this album got such a bad rap by the die hard DM fans. I think it's fantastic. I wonder if it would be better received if Ultra came out before SOFAD???

  • @neworder36 perfect answer!

  • @UNTERKUNST SEX!

  • IS THIS SONG ABOUT HEROIN?

  • @sensualeyaa just a little.

  • @DiiDee66 Dave the lead singer wasn't there if it makes u feel better...
