here's a laid back summer joint i made back around '03-'04. i didn't wanna put any change ups in it so i kept it simple. probably because i spent a lot of time on the bassline..lol. it's also a tribute beat to Masta Ace's "Terror" joint.

did the MPC2000xl have a monophonic feature so when you hit one pad and then another pad, the first pad stops? Cause I don't think the 2000 has that.

@montanaboy99 yeah it does. you have to go in the paramaters screen and highlight mono then hit open window. then it'll say mutes off and you just highlight it and hit the pad you wanna cut off. each pad can cut off up to 2 different pads

@seekknoledge put it in mono, highlight mono then hit open window. in this screen you can select up to to different pads you want to mute off. say you have a closed hi hat on pad 3 and an open one one pad 4 you wand pad 3 to cut off 4 so hit pad 3, open the mono window and highlight NOTE: then hit the pad you want to mute off. it could be a little tricky and tedious, but it CAN be done. newer mpc's have the mute group function where they'll automatically cut each other off. it's a lot easier.
