First Clip: Afternoon thunderstorm forms near Devils Tower National Monument.

Second Clip (starts @ 1:33): Photogenic backlit squall line with developing rain shafts + multiple CG strikes in front of sunset. This happened on I90 between Gillette and Sheridan. Believe these storms formed over the Bighorn Mountains and then moved east.

Third Clip (starts @ 5:55): Another storm moves through Sheridan with the cold front after dark.

  • Great video and pics! Was out there 08/05/11 visiting my buddy Jake over in Sheridan. Drove the same rode, ran into the same thunderstorm like what you showed. I miss him and I miss WY.

  • @IJerthere

Thanks. The sunset storm on I90 was one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever seen. The video doesn't really do it justice.

This happened on a road trip with my father enroute to Seattle, WA from Michigan. I'm happy we ended up taking some scenic detours along the way. The next day we took 14A over the Bighorns and the wildflowers were wonderful. It was very green/lush with snowmelt still ongoing above 9,500 ft.

  • Woweee...Marshall.,....lovely and wonderful in-depth photos of the huge thunderclouds, CGs and even a wall cloud..and love that noisy Tstorm in progress at the very end. BTW...the ''Devil's Tower'' reminds me of my 1978-favorite movie ''Close Encounters of the Third Kind''...even way back in 1978...I've been audiotaping Tstorms..even from Florida on 5/4/78..when tornadoes struck in Clearwater FL..! Again...lovely video..very colorful too. love your narrations too.

  • That's on helluva road trip- sooo jealous! We were talking about taking the 14 next time we go out to Sheridan. The stretch between Gillette & Buffalo, I could sit there for hour n hours just taking in the views.
