Neville Fernando and his group Los Caballeros emerged into the music scene of Sri Lanka in the 60s. Neville was one of the best classical guitarists that Sri Lanka has ever produced and the flexibility in arrangement of his music leant on the Paraguayan music styles, influenced by the Los Paraguayos. Gayana Geyum for the film Delovak Athara directed by Dr. Lester James Peiris was his first recording. He later went on to produce some all time hits such as Master Sir for the film Kalu Diya Dahara, Malbara Himidiriye with Rukmani Devi, Sumuduru Devi etc. are still echoed on the Sri Lankan music circuits. His untimely death at the age of 38 created a huge vaccum in the Sri Lankan music industry.

This song is about 'Samudra Devi' the coastal line express train from Fort Colombo to Galle in down south.

A rare collection of Neville's music is available on the Youtube channel of Guitarmanaruna, well worth visiting.
