Track 3, Stage 1 "Boss" theme for Yuyuko. Yuyuko is apparently a bystander who points the way onwards! A nice theme for a quick little battle. And as such, Yuyuko has no damaged art. In fact, looking at her dialogue, it seems she chose to fight the heroine of your choice for kicks, and then just tell them where to go. People may say this is silly Yuyuko, but it's quite clear from her dialogue she's not at all, in fact. I got a small Yukari vibe when I read the translation, she seems to know exactly what is going on, but leaves the heroine to it, just like in PCB...

Though Yuyuko also hints "some troublesome individual will make a return" to Youmu, could ZUN be hinting at his old PC-98 characters? Or just messing with everyone and introduce a completely new character with a massive back story?

I suspect the latter personally, but I'm sure all the Mima fans are currently freaking out...

ZUN Comments: "Yuyuko Saigyouji's theme.

Not really an easy piece to classify.
Since I had to bring out the fact that she's only a first stage boss, I stopped myself from arranging a previous song of hers.
In this game she just acts as a bystander who helps the protagonists on their way."

  • I don't know about you, but I liked the idea of having Yuyuko cameo as a Stage 1 boss. Being in Stage 1 wasn't an insult, as it was just a pretty nice way to have her pop her head in without making the game overly difficult. Plus, seeing simpler versions of Yuyuko's attacks in PCB was a bit nostalgic. It would cool if ZUN continued this trend and had another Stage 5 or 6 boss reappear in an early stage in Touhou 14.

  • @jigglykirby I'd like it too. It's nice to see them reappear outside the fighting games and printed works.

  • My thoughts playing Lunatic: Mmm, tough but manageable. Lots of butterflies still, this girl sure loves those things. Hmm, basic bullet dodging, I've seen this before. Hey this one reminds me of of PCB a lot. Well that wasn't bad, not too much harder than normal....Oh the FAN!?......NO GOD! NO GOD, PLEASE NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

  • @Jaksin7038 *Go to middle of video*

    *SUDDENLY SPIRIT WORLD TRACK :D*

I put both in the same video for sake of convenience and I have downloads for both versions. And no I'm not gonna cave into this daftness of a "true" track, the complement each other in my opinion. Not build a bigger track. All my Ten Desires Videos have responses by deviantEcko are the "True" tracks.

  • @AkvoD3 Same pronunciation, I guess. Sorta.

  • @Mewkyuu As in Elven Lied?

  • @AkvoD3 Like last month, I read it as "Ghost Lied" (as in the German word, lied.)

  • @Mewkyuu When I first played it in Japanese, I thought it was 'Ghost Reed'. o3o

  • *sigh* If only she was talking about Mima there... instead we get that brat Miko. -_- Oh well. At least we get to see Yuyuko displaying the cunning intellect behind that adorable silliness again. Haven't seen that since... what, PoFV? Also, totally wins the record for hardest Stage 1 boss in the series, despite TD as a whole being miles -easier- than its predecessors.

  • I was thinking Ghost Reed when I first saw the title :|c
