keep it up gentleman. As most of you know push hands is only one element of tai chi aside from kicking punching joint locks and wrestling. Real tai chi can not be proven in contests like ufc, real masters strike vital areas and dont rely on solely on brute force. conversely they can generate tremendous power. unfortunately all the charlatans out there have made a mockery of this style, most people think tai chi is slow motion granny new age crap. If any one likes centering im in so cal.

Next time some drunk ass at a bar or something tries to fuck with me, I will warn him: "You BETTER stop off, pal, or I WILL push your hands. Not even kidding. I will push your damn hands!"

was that surpose to be a joke? lol Push hands is a drill not a fighting style. Same way a jujutsu dude would "roll or wrestle" to aquire a certain skill but in a real fight they'll be strikes n kicks...Push hands is just a drill to find and learn to use the other guys momentum n balance. doesnt mean there gona fight that way. Only idiots will misinterpret that...are you an idiot gangreneVagina? or just a pussy? no pun intended lmao

A joke? Yeah, mostly. But I've seen other Tai Chi videos and they're not drilling like these guys. It clearly appears to be a fighting style based on how the "opponents" go flying when this old dude pushes their hands.

Very clever rhetoric, by the way. Very, VERY clever.

Gangrene & Anh,

As a Taichi coach, I can tell you that Push-hands is both a drill and a fighting style. It's designed for close range grappling & wrestling. It was more useful in the old days when people carried swords which require a few feet of space to be effective. When you're too close to your opponent you push him out to create the space needed for the sword thrust. In any case, you have to combine push-hands with other techniques to be really effective. It's not complete by itself.
