With the Create Star and Polygons tool, Inkscape allows the user to create star, but is difficult to make regular stars, that is, ones like the five-pointed stars where the star can be drawn using the same number of lines as points. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stellation for more info.
By drawing from point to point on the vertices of a regular polygon, such a star can be created accurately and quickly.
The number of regular star polygons contained within a polygon is determined by ((n(n-3))/2)n=s (round down to nearest whole number), n being the number of sides of the polygon, (n(n-3))/2 being the number of diagonals in the polygon, and s rounded down being the number of regular star polygons in the figure.

  • Inkscape freezes up all the time. Anyone else experience this? Any sugestions on how to make it run smoother without freezing up after a few moments of inactivity?

  • I haven't really expirienced that. You could try talking about that on an Inkscape forum.

  • Amazing skills ... !

Do you know a way to put a pixel image inside a shape ??

    Thanks a lot !

    I finde Inscape AMAZING !!!

    Long Life Open Source !!

  • A bitmap image can be inserted and then made to the shape of your choice by selecting an overlying path along with the bitmap, then click -->Object -->Clip-->Set.

The bitmap will now be the shape of your choice.

  • wow you are really an inkscape master!

  • Yeah, that makes perfectly good sense. Thanks.

  • Many, many thanks.. that's great !! Since I started using Inkscape I don't use Illustrator any more.. I feel Inkscape as powerful and even faster.. !!! it's amazing !!

  • This is nice. I've only used Inkscape a few times, but this makes me want to try it again. (I was wondering if it'd be good for origami diagrams, but it seemed to be missing some features that I'd need.)
