Landing at Newquay Cornwall Airport from London Gatwick as BA2972, onboard Boeing B737-500 G-GFFE in March 2008. Back then, Newquay Airport was a semi-active RAF airbase with the civil airport adjacent.

  • @Christian1213 That's why it was scrapped. 45% loads on a 25 min flight. Really? What were they thinking?

  • @VX737 So did i. I was on a BMIBABY 737-300.

  • Jesus Christ is there any wonder BA has got no money? I mean putting on a flight to a place that you can throw a stone to? It's not worth getting in the air for a flight of that length.

Last month we flew from Manchester to Newquay and I spent longer in the airport than I did on the aircraft.

  • I've never seen a plane that fuckng empty!!!!!!!!!

  • BMIBaby are opping the flight from next May. :)

  • While the approach over land (from the east? not sure) can be very pretty, nothing compares to the approach over the sea on a windy day with lowish clouds -- especially in a Dash 8. It literally feels like you're about to just drop into the sea, but at the same time it's great fun and spectacular to be a part of. It's like a much less glamorous St Juliana :)

  • i spent a few weeks working on the runway/airfield here last year. Had to get off the runway for these plenty of times.

  • This aircraft is currently stored at Lasham and will be scrapped!!!

  • the amount of time to drive is far greater than that of flying. Otherwise why would airlines bother, especially in the UK?

I drove down to Newquay from the east midlands and it took 12.5 hours. The traffic was moderate.

I really wish there was a flight from East mids airport to Newquay. Maybe Ryanair will one day!!

  • the drive from gatwick to newquay would be about 6.5 hours!
