I wished that Frank Sutton's grave had a marker where he served in the US Army (not the Marines, as many thought), where he flew 14 missions in Korea. Also, maybe is should have had his home state and military rank, along with the insignias of the Army and Marine Corps. However, this simple gravestone is meaningful, for he was more than just an actor who played tough guy roles. He graduated from Columbia University in New York, and was a devoted husband and father. You left us all too soon.

One of the funniest guys that ever was on TV. He played Sgt Carter so well!

@Jaybird1103 Frank Sutton served in the US Army infantry in World War II and made 14 assault landings in the Pacific Theater of Operations via landing craft, not aircraft. He was busy working in television during the Korean War.

@ridgerunner721601 Are you saying Frank Sutton was blackballed by the "higher ups" in Hollywood? Because he went to Vietnam? Don't you think it had more to do with typecasting? Did you think Max Baer who played Jethro was "blackballed" by the "libturds"? How about every other person during that era who was typecasted. Was it a Libturd Conspiracy? Again, I beg of you to get a life, Noob.
-
@genogeno1234 Tell it to the Hollywood libturds who blackballed Frank Sutton for going to Vietnam and entertaining the troops. You liberals have to be the biggest hypocrites on this planet. You're always yapping about how open minded you are until somebody disagrees with you. Too bad it was Frank Sutton who died before his time instead of some piece of trash like Penn or Baldwin.
-
@ridgerunner721601 Libturd? There is a youtube video somewhere just waiting for you to comment on, and it is not this particular one, Noob. Again I say to you, it was a television show. It was cancelled prematurely. It was a situation comedy centered on the on base Marine life of one Gomer Pyle. It was not reality. Get a life, Goob.
-
@genogeno1234 Don't give me that b.s. You libturds are constantly insulting anybody politically to the right of Mao or Stalin. The right should have started fighting back years ago. It's a struggle though when nearly all of Hollywood and all of the media other than Fox News are nothing but propaganda outlets for Ocrappo and the rest of the left wing extremists.
-
@ridgerunner721601 wow, I didn't know this was going to degenerate into a political discussion. "Left wing communist trash", "mainstream media", etc. Do you have anything new to offer rather than the same usual insults bantered about as of late? Gomer Pyle was a television show, noob. It is sad that Frank Sutton died so early in his life, and I find it pathetic that people feel it is their noob duty to spout off political insults when there are other venues for this. You are a Goob, noob.

I woke up every morning to watch Gomer Pyle with my father, a Marine Veteran of Korea & Viet Nam wars and drill Sgt., before he would go to work. Frank Sutton's humorous and touching portrayal reminds me so much of my father's rough exterior and heart of gold. It's amazing how this show is still affecting and entertaining people decades later. Thanks to Frank , Jim Neighbors and our cousin, George Lindsey (Goober) from Andy Griffith Show occasionally. Both George & Jim are from Alabama.

Frank Sutton was terrific as Sgt. Carter. Although he was taken way too soon from this earth, I'm sure he's making the Lord laugh up in heaven. Anybody who can bring such laughter into the world the way Frank did as Sgt. Carter should have a place reserved in heaven.

We lost poor Frank Sutton all too soon...he was a smoker of cigars and he drank too much damn coffee..which lead to his fatal heart attack.
I loved the SGT Carter character. Where is he buried?
