I wonder how they could've missed a 5m crack in the boosters.You'd think someone would've spotted something like that. Even if the mission is unmanned, and there are no human lives are at risk, there's still a lot of money and man-hours invested into these projects.

@stiglistanbul One of them was just "Oh, no..." when $1.1 billion went kaboom.
Hopefully if I ever reach the status of NASA PR man I'll be able to think of something more intelligent... like "The Russians are breaking out cognac right now... one less military satellite to worry about."
