In this fight kickboxing legend Don Wilson is having a hard time against the thai Samart Prasamit (not to confond with the legend Samart Payakaroon).
The thai although being smaller and much lighter is able to overwork Don Wilson with hard kicks and in the clinch with strong knee attacks

  • Don should have side kicked his knee and put him in a electric wheel chair.

  • Muay Thai OWNED him hard

  • Nobody does the Don Wilson Full Contact Karate style anymore. Not in Kickboxing; Not in MMA; and obviously not in Muay Thai. Why didn't he fight Dutch Muay Thai fighters at his own weight class. It's a no win here. He wins - he's the larger fighter. He lose, he gets whooped by a naturally smaller fighter. In the end, today, it's all about Muay Thai. Except for Karate loyalists of the past, no one does Don's shit anymore. Muay Thai and Boxing = most effective striking consistently!

  • Respect to Don for joining the discussion, and of course more respect to him for being a pioneering Westerner prepared to go to Thailand in the mid 80s and fight under their rules. As I recall from the tapes Fanta knocked you down 3 times but it was a draw.but I think it says more about your ability the fact u were able to go the distance with those who had trained in Thai their whole loves; moat Western kick boxers would have lasted seconds in those days

  • Yeah, the Thais did their best not to lose their faces by forcing Wilson to drop some 8 pounds hours before the fight. Nothing to take away from Samart, though.
