Amy Sky - Phenomenal Woman

I carried this incredible poem around in my purse for months, while trying to contact Dr. Maya Angelou to get her permission to put it to music. One day she showed up -- serendipitously - at a taping of the Dini Petty show that I was also on...Reading this story made me burst out crying..really inspired me so much THANK YOU!!!

I saw Amy Sky & heard this song for the first time at a Jim Brickman concert in Verona, NY. I was teary-eyed at the end and was in awe of this woman!
I wanted to give this song to the members of my women's group, MVBWN, so I sang it to them - and it was empowering...

I think Martin Luther King Jr would be proud and affirmed that one of the most iconic and femininely affecting poems of a black poetess is being performed by a long standing and borderline iconic Canadian country artist.

That said, good job. I didn't know this poem had been turned into a song before, or that you were still performing amy. good deal all around.
