Damn I didn't realize he was that young when he died. What a shame. He was such a talent but it seems that could be said of alot of others from his era and beyond unfortunately,Holly,Valens,Bop
per,Elmore James,Morrison,Hendrix, the band Lynryd Skinryd, even Elvis and Lennon somewhat. Can't forget Stevie Ray Vaughn,he was just about to reach what he deserved in worldwide recognition and also Jeff Healy.I know I missed some but it sux because all of them had so much more to give when they died. -

@stephenspinato - Thanks for your comment and of course you're right. Bobby Darin was a singer, writer, arranger, performer and musician. That's quite a list of accomplishments and he has been most succesful at all of them. As a singer he proved to be a teen-age smash plus a polished warbler of other type material for adult audiences. As a writer he wrote "Splish splash" and "Early in the morning" plus other tunes which have been recorded by Eddie Arnold, LaVern Baker and Gene Vincent.

One of the best RR songs ever. Bobby was a great rocker but wanted to be Frank Sinatra.

@pmshanahan100 - Thanks for your comment. Bobby Darin started his career as a rock 'n' roller singing with Decca early in 1956. Later he joined Atco and hit with "Splish splash". "Mack the knife" enabled Darin to persue his dream of becoming another Sinatra and apart from "Things" and "Multiplication" he rarely again dabbed in rock 'n' roll. In the 60's he recorded country on Capitol before returning to Atlantic. He died at the age of 36 following heart surgery on December 20th 1973.
