2011 V8 Supercar Champion Jamie Whincup has spoken to media the day after the Sydney Telstra 500.
Whincup won his third Championship in just four years in an electric finish to the 2011 season at the Sydney Telstra 500 in front of just over 172,000 fans across the three days.
He edged out team-mate Craig Lowndes in a fight to the finish.
Whincup became just the second man in history after Hall of Famer Norm Beechey (1965 and 1970) to win the Australian Touring Car Championship/V8 Supercar Championship in both a Ford and a Holden.
He joined Peter Brock and Craig Lowndes as a three-time Champion. Only Ian Geoghegan, Dick Johnson, Mark Skaife, Allan Moffat, Bob Jane and Jim Richards have won more Championships.
It was the fifth straight year he has recorded a top-two result in the series. No other driver has achieved that in the history of the ATCC/V8SC since it became a series of races rather than being decided -- as it was from 1960 to 1968 -- by a single race.
Whincup today revealed that in the coming weeks MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner will get behind the wheel of one of the TeamVodafone Commodores in a private test.
