In my opinion Ernest Greene AKA Washed Out has produced the absolute highlight of the so called Chillwave-genre with his already classic mini album "Life of Leisure" from 2009. Now he is finally ready with his debut full-lenght - "Within and Without", expected to be released July 11 through Weird World and Domino in Europe and July 12 via Sub Pop in the USA. After recently releasing a single from the album - "Eyes Be Closed" - "Within and Without" has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2011. Personally, I haven't been this excited about a record for ages and that feeling is further enforced by this new track that I snatched from a Domino Records radio show that you can stream from this site: http://dominorad.io/show/jack_shankly_liquid_lunch2.

I hope and think this is going to be the ultimate summer record and while it's still not out yet, several sites have started to take pre orders. One hot tip: When I pre-ordered from Rough Trade I was promised a mix-cd by Ernest Greene as a bonus.

May you all have a blissful summer!

  • what genre would this be considered?

  • @BrunettexxxBabii it's called "Chillwave".

  • I think that girls name is Blair on the album cover, i knew them both from private school when I was younger... I never saw Ernest getting into electronic music though, he was always into jam bands and southern rock back then... you could tell he had major music talent though. Never imagined someone from the small town of perry, ga would be a major music success. props where due.

  • @RivieraStudios again, it's not Greene and Blair on the cover but a series of photos used in a recent issue of Cosmopolitan. Pitchfork did a piece about it. Apparently Greene liked the photos so much he bought them for his cover, so they are actually professional models. Google washed out cosmo to find out all the details...

  • I actually really like the cover- it's more tender and intimate than it is sexual. Especially because it's him and his wife- you can tell from their body language that they're lovers, not just two people getting some. I don't think they were thinking "oooooh, sex, that'll get people's attention" when they decided on the art. But the music would be awesome even if it came in a shitty plastic CD case, and that's what matters haha :)

  • @Naobikanobi it's not him and his wife. Greene saw the picture in Cosmo and liked it so much that he bought it for his album cover. Google washed out cosmo for all the details
