  • Hi Dr. Wetter,

Can you please tell me if any of your patients had positive Smith Antibodies? Thank you.

  • No patients had positive anti-Smith antibodies. 8 patients were tested for anti-Smith antibodies and were negative (7 were tested at the time of their lupus-like syndrome, one was tested prior to the onset of lupus-like syndrome). The other 6 patients were not tested for anti-Smith antibodies. Dr. Wetter

  • Since this is a disease where the immune system is attcking itself it makes a lot of sense that arthritis may be present in patients that suffer lupus.
