However it's worth mentioning that it was forbidden, sometimes under severe punishment, in 19'th century Brazil. Maybe it was different then, more combat-oriented than today.

i agree with shavarnarak. those moves are highly risky. nevertheless, capoeira is beautiful to watch, and it thrills and enthuses you, when you perform it.

i would like to know the performer and the title of the song, too. it's great

Capoeira looks cool, but it's as much of a martial art as pro-wrestling is.
It's horribly inefficient really, more of a performance art then anything actually useful in a fight.
It's cool to watch mind you, but in an actual fight someone flipping and twirling like that would just get hit mid-tumble at one point. It's entirely composed of what's called 'high risk moves'.

Just read danshaw1967's comment. very well said. And as a Martial Artists. Respect the Arts for their own wisdom. 25 years in the Arts and I still feel like there is always something new. It'll be great when the world uses the fighting styles of today for just fun and enlightenment instead of defending ones life or for violence. Hehe, I could go on. Let's just say when you get to a certain understanding you don't wanna fight anymore. Life's fun don't poopoo things you don't understand. Peace all

Madza song ahoy!
I practice capoeira as a main fighting style and I think it should be used with another martial art cause there are flaws in the art that the Mestres should work on. Maybe use akiedo(If I spelled it correctly) as well.

Every forms of martial art comes with its unique history and purposes. Of course every martial art has its flaws as it was created by human being and it is up to us to improve it and to embrace it from time to time. Aikido is one very nice martial art to learn too! (I learned tat as my secondary martial art). Thanks for giving all the comments guys!

yeah.. this form of martial art is much more of a very high performance sports and it's definitely good for health as acrobatic movements requires extreme strong muscle and good endurance.
