Here is the classic song, "Ya No Llores", orginally by Los Relampagos del Norte ( Cornelio Reyna and Ramon Ayala), done by Doug Sahm, and the Sir Douglas Quintet. The concert takes place in 1994, in Fruitigen, Switzerland. This version is one of my favorites. I honestly believe Doug Sahm thought he was part Mexican, since he loved this music so much.
The Hispanic, Mexican, Mexican-American, Mexicano, Latino, Latin-American, Pocho's, and all other familia should put him right up there with Cesar Chavez! This guy loved Mexican people, and their music.
Thanks Doug!
This band features the Clay Meyers. son of Augie Meyers, and Shawn Sahm, son of Doug Sahm.
Also in the band is Doug Clifford, from Creedance Clearwater Revival.
I added video from the Bonilla Family video. I thought it would be better than just a blank screen. I hope you enjoy it.
P.S.: Thsis video contains just about everyone in my family, dead or, alive!

  • I just found out at this year's Bonilla Reunion, that we lost cousin Sammy Bonilla, to cancer, about 4 months ago. Sammy is the little kid at the end of the video (starts at 4:59). R.I.P. Sammy, and all other family members in this video who are no longer with us. We miss you all.

  • Thanks for the great song, the family video that went so well with it, and for teaching a little bit about Doug Sahm.

  • @Gothamauto Thank You, Gotthmauto.

  • Doug Sahm fans love the music! Bonilla fans love both! Thanks for watching!

  • Sir Doug, I am a big fan of your now that I discovered your music in 2009. Sorry you are no longer with us. I am quite impressed by your musical gifts that you left in the world. Your spirit lives on in your music and wish I could have seen you play before you moved on.... but your music does leave you're legacy behind and what really mattered to you! And it matters to me bro. You were the coolest Space Cowboy that ever lived.

  • Even though the song is "Ya No Llore" I'm sitting here with a tear in my eye. Doug was without a doubt the best thing to come out of Texas ever! He knew good music when he heard it no matter the language. Miss you Doug. You'll never be forgotten.
