Le Sang Des Bêtes (warning: contains graphic violence)

Le San Des Bêtes, or Blood Of The Beasts, is a 1949 documentary by Georges Franju (Eyes Without a Face) showing what goes on behind a slaughterhouse. I think children may watch this film, but only if there's an adult to help them through it. Viewers should exercise their own discretion.

Before you comment, I still eat meat. In a 3rd world country like ours, we don't always have the luxury of choice. However, I think that the animals we eat should be treated and killed as humanely as possible. This film opened up the debate about slaughterhouses in France in its time.

As far as I know, this film is in the public domain. I will gladly remove this video if requested for this reason.

I didn't like seeing the horse killed, as I believe horses are for riding and companionship and should never be killed except to end suffering, but that horse was killed perfectly. It did not suffer, and was not even under any emotional distress. All was well with it, until suddenly it found itself walking over the rainbow bridge without a clue of how it got there. I wish that every animal that is to be slaughtered should be slaughtered in such a quick and humane manner.
