English Title: Spaceship Take-off - A Technical Fantasy

I actually obtained the following through the Records of the United States Air Force (RG 342) at the U.S. National Archives (probably captured during World War II). This film appears to have dated from the late-1930's, given the paint-scheme accorded the aircraft types depicted, although, for some reason, the USAF appears to have incorrectly labeled the year of publication as 1928.

Given my status as just another ignorant American who's too lazy to learn a foreign language(aside from the four years of French, which I have progressively forgotten over the years), the fact that I don't speak a word of German limits my comprehension of this film to a broad-based conception of what appears to be a work of "speculative fiction", contemplating the manner in which(based on scientific knowledge of the period) one might utilize rocket ships to orbit the moon and mars.

In addition to the theoretical conceptions of interplanetary travel, the film also features illustrations of the Dornier Do X, Do 19, Do 23, and Do 24, in addition to footage of the Opel-Sanders Rak alongside various other rocket experiments of the late-20's

I bought this on DVD from The National Archives! Check Amazon.com under the English title. A remarkable work of prediction, even if parts of it look slightly goofy today.

Thank you for this film. I've been curious about this since a clip appeared on SNL, of all places.
