You need a plastic brush. Make sure it's plastic and not a natural bristle brush. The hard plastic bristles won't damage the hair, but they will totally detangle your knots.

I have a very big knot in my hair, and I have been struggling to get it out. My mum has artheritus so she can't help, and it hurts when I try to do it myself. I have tried putting de-tangling sprays on the knot and hair, but it still hurts and I get really unpatient. What should I do?
