I think that pepper spray would be great in the zombie appocalypse, if only for bandits or looters trying to attack you to get your supplies. Zombies? Not as good for that, but it's definetly something that could deal with a bandit or two.

Silver coins are for currency, since paper money will not be useful. Other than a barter system, I would assume that at some point an economy would form after the apocalypse (if there is an "after the apocalypse"). Check out the "Prepper" craze that's going on. They are big on planning for economic collapse and how gold/silver coins will again be the bases of the economy.
