@sigma3survivalschool I feel that the ancient sinew backed bows are just as powerful and just as deadly as a modern laminated fiberglass bow, Man has just complicated everything. You dont need to measure everything, and use molds and clamps You dont need wheels on a bow. I shoot a 70LB Osage sinew backed bow, and it shoots an arrow just as fast just as powerful as a compound! Now I just need to make a string for my hickory bow! Thanx man!

@sigma3survivalschool How did the natives coat there bow strings? rendered fat, pitch? I tried it but it makes the string so greasy? Im I doing it right?

@sigma3survivalschool Ok thanx man. What natural string will hold a 60LB Hickory bow? other than sinew and Hemp or linen, which you cant find growing in North america..how about Dogbane?

@5tonyvvvv I know plenty of guys that can make them primitively. Not that hard just takes a ton more work, like everything that is primitive. There is a channel that is connected with mine called WildPrimitiveSkills, message Josh. he is one of my instructors and he can give you info on how to do that

@5tonyvvvv There are tons of things you can make a bow string out of. You don't need sinew for that. I'd probably make a bow if I was going to be out longer than 3 weeks. But i wouldn't start making it a priority until I had set enough traps all over to ensure I have more than enough food. So I imagine that around the late part of the second week, I'd cut a stave and start drying it and then slowly begin the process.

@sigma3survivalschool Cool man, but see thats just it, No one knows how to make primitive bows and primitive strings! I have never met any one that has real knowledge on it, with stone tools! All the vids on You tube start with steel tools and modern strings.

@5tonyvvvv Bows are for primitive living situations, not survival situations. I personally am not an advocate of building bows unless you are going to be out an extremely long time. Deer can be taken with traps. Such as spring snares with alarms. I have a video on it on my channel. You trap them and then make a spear to finish them. Much more effective than actively hunting all the time and burning calories. Watch the video deer spring snare.

@sigma3survivalschool I know, but at what point would you make a bow? I mean Sinew makes good string, so how would u take a deer without a bow??
