  • Fifty built, Fifty sunk? Lol.

English cruisers were cool, but were horribly outdated. And the new ones were piss poor.

    Comfortable though.

Only the US built a good treaty ship.

We had the least naval losses of all the allies who came under attack, and we decimated the forces we came across. I wouldn't chalk it up to skill though.

  • @peepeevagi I think you will find that uSA had MONEY and more importantly TIME to build upt o date warships, as USA entered the war later than Britain

  • 60 odd cruisers with another 30 plus added.

6 years of war often close to land based airpower or without air cover.

the ships could take heavy damage and dish it out too.

the one really good thing with british cruisers was keeping torpedoes,( american cruisers did away with torpedoes which was a disastrous decision during the solomons campaign.)

  • @peepeevagi Royal Navy or US Navy suffered more hits? The Royal Navy had fewer losses but that was to be expected as we had more against less.

  • @MrXray2011 Nope. Our ships took more hits, had less 'write offs', and a higher maximum fleet speed than any other navy in the world. The only real disaster our navy ever faced was pear harbor, but that really doesn't count :/.

  • @ukipwarrior We have 6. 3x Type 42's which are being replaced with the Type 45's, three of which are already in commission.

  • @peepeevagi Actually the USN gained more losses in WWII and the Royal Navy was fighting the Italians, Germans and Japanese!!

    God Bless America

    Rule Britannia!

  • read the history of the hmas shropshire, served right through the war, atlantic, pacific. Her gunnery was superb, it was the best ship to shore gunnery support ship of the pacific. Greart 8inch and in the phillipines were doing 50 meter range finding And I think even less at one time and this was at 8 miles. a CLASS SHIP AND SHE WAS BRITISH BUILT

  • now we have like 3 destroyers going to 6

  • @WELLBRAN and capacity.

  • I'm not a fan of the British heavy cruisers but the light cruisers were nice.

The Leander and Towns were great ships

  • the royal navy has numerous ships that gave outstanding service and had proud war records.

the illustrious for example took out three battleships and two cruisers just in the taranto raid and suffered very severe damage on more than one occasion.

unfortunately like most WW2 ships she was scrapped and mostly forgotten.
