GEORGE FRIDERIC HANDEL (1685-1759)

Concerto grosso for oboe, two recorders, two cellos, violin, strings and basso continuo in B Flat Major Op. 3 No. 2 HWV313

1. Vivace

2. Largo

3. Allegro

Performed by Combattimento Consort Amsterdam
Directed by Jan Willem de Vriend

*As typical of Handel, all of the concerti grossi of Opus 3 existed in previous versions. This concerto has music adapted from "Brocke's Passion". Note the moving second movement's odd instrumentation with two cellos and oboe playing concertino.

  • Largo is beautifull.

  • Yes. Handel had a real gift for slow movements.

  • I didn't know idiots like you still existed.

  • I agree, The Great Handel had an incredible gift for slow movements...all, and I do mean All, of them are Majestic, whether they be apart of A Concerto Grosso, or whether it be a slow aria in an Oratario or Opera....They are always poignant and moving in the most incredible ways.

  • @youtoubidou *grin*

I just spent the better part of half an hour looking for it. I hadn't listened to it in years and had forgotten which concerto it was in.

So glad to have finally found it, damn it!

  • NEC CESSO, NEC ERR

  • This is not wrong to say mostly. I'd say you should replace the word race with culture and there you have it.

Spiritus captus, veritas non coloris sed actionis. Color designatio non est pro virtute et gloria stirpis totae generae humanae.

  • Unique in concerto grosso literture, divided celli obligato parts. Handel-amazing
