Window$ XP Pro being started from Virtualbox emulator on my laptop ( Core2Duo 7300 2.2 Ghz, 2Gb of RAM ). The host OS is Xubuntu Gutsy (7.10). The Guest OS is nLite'd Window$ XP Pro. It takes sth. about 60Mb in RAM and the install ISO is about 200mb big. It has 512 MBytes of RAM. I think it loads quite fast ;). This video was recorded using istanbul recording program :)

  • What apps do you use in xp virtualized? Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere would be usable?

  • my opinion is that it will be usable but a bit slower. also i think that windows 7 under virtualbox is a lot slower than xp or 2000. i use visual studio in order to compile binaries for my apps for windows and if feels a bit sluggish. but after all, the same visual studio on normal (non emulated machine) is slow as hell so i think that's no big difference for me ;) i have never used photoshop or any program of that kind so i don't have experience, sorry.

  • i can NOT adjust the secreen size like you did... How did u do that?

  • screen size? do You mean window$ screen size? i installed guest additions and then needed to click 'Auto-scale guest' (or RightCtrl-G) in the running machine :) hope that helps ;)

  • thank you ;> worked after installing quest add.. love xp on mac :>

  • hmm as far as i'm converned, there is such thing as bootcamp for mac - maby this would be better for You? i also recommend nLite - it's really great tool ;)

    greetings :)

  • Thanks for reply. And what about printing and scaning? I mean if printers and scanners works normal on virtualized xp. I seriously think about using windows only in wirtualmachine.
