Someone finally had to upload some music by the unforgotten, immortal valiha/marovany virtuoso Rakotozafy. This is, however, no video with the late maestro, but only my favourite tune and some moving pictures of my little daughter. Nothing professional at all, just for fun.

  • Hi, Are you sure the little is "O Zaza Ny Fandeha Disia" ? I am a native Malagasy speaker and I see this makes no sense at all, of course the vocal is not perfect and it's a bit difficult to get what he says but what I can hear is "O zaza re ii tiandeha diasa, tsy anao irery navelam-bady e!" which means "O girl (in this context not a child) even you want to go (please) wait, you are not the only one left by a husband" so the title is probably: O ZAZA TIANDEHA DIASA

  • @MrLaolo No, I am not sure the title really is "O Zaza Ny Fandeha Disia". I copied the title from the CD where I got this tune from. And probably you are right with your assumption. However, the most important thing is the music, isn't it? :)

  • Reminds Me of the kora music My uncle used to play for me when i was a Kid.

My favorite currently is Toumani Diabate.

Funny how African souls merge no matter how separated we are.

  • It seems like this : O ry Zaza iry, te-handeha diaso, tsy anao irery no navelam-bady. And the meaning is right

  • @rakotozafysweden You're right! What's important is the music! Thanks a lot for sharing that rare Malagasy traditional music. Do you have the other piece called "MANGINA ZAZA" ?

  • Thanks so much for this! My favorite Rakotozafy cut (so far...) I think is called "Samy Faly" (does that make any sense in Malagasy?), from a wonderful record of valiha music i came across by chance at a going-out-of-business sale and have unfortunately lost! A great genius of a beautiful tradition.

  • lovely music,,,

  • zany ka mozika. Raha misy hafa dia alefaso

  • Hej,

My english is very poor, but it is better to me to ask you something in danish if you can answer me.
