Armenian Genocide: Hrant Dink's Last Words

Hrant Dink was a Turkish-Armenian editor, journalist and columnist.

As editor-in-chief of the bilingual Turkish-Armenian newspaper Agos, Dink was a prominent member of the Armenian minority in Turkey. Dink was best known for advocating Turkish-Armenian reconciliation and human and minority rights in Turkey; he was often critical of both Turkey's denial of the Armenian Genocide, and of the Armenian diaspora's campaign for its international recognition. Dink was prosecuted three times for denigrating Turkishness, while receiving numerous death threats from Turkish nationalists.

Hrant Dink was assassinated in Istanbul in January 2007, by a 17-year old Turkish nationalist. This was shortly after the premiere of the genocide documentary "Screamers" in which he is interviewed about Turkish denial of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and the case against him under article 301.

At his funeral, two hundred thousand mourners marched in protest of the assassination, chanting "We are all Armenians" and "We are all Hrant Dink". Criticism of Article 301 became increasingly vocal after his death, leading to parliamentary proposals for repeal.

@Turoyan I'm disagree about a religious problem. It's political. We are not genetically the same people, culturally neither. But I guess you are a nice person so, I will not fight with you. Just we think different and we have differents educations.I respect your thoughts but I'm not agree. I can remember my granda crying at nights and screaming "THE TURKS!!!!!" "save my boys" and things like that. Anyway, happy new year 2 u 2!

I am sorry for your grandparents my friend:(I believe Armenians&Turks must understand eachother and solve their problems together.That's how we can make peace,.I see all these events as a muslim-christian fight.But genetically and culturally we are brothers after all.Generally Turkish people don't have problems with Armenians and Greeks,it is just muslims have problem with everyone:)Happy new year to you and to your family!

@Turoyan I know, but he is not the only one, that was organizated. I dont deny Armenians killed turks in 1915 ... but was autodefense! I understand about they cant believe as Hrant Dink said. Its true. I cant talk with open mind people like you, but some turks are totally brainwashed. My grandparents story is very very sad. Thanks, and happy new year!

The murderer of Hrant Dink is in jail and he will stay there forever.There are many stupid turks and armenians in youtube.I dont pay attention on them.But I definitely know that Turks want scientifical and objective desicions.They dont deny,they just dont believe.Because thier grandfathers were killed by Armenians too.Everyone must pay for what they did to others my friend.Some people should try to understand Turks too like Hrant Dink did.Regards my friend!
