Just as a sign on an aircraft saying: "passengers must refrain from smoking on this aeroplane" can only be reasonably interpreted as meaning- ALL passengers must refrain, and not- some passengers must refrain, resolution 242 can only reasonable be interpreted as calling for the withdrawal of ALL Israeli armed forces from ALL territories occupied in the 67 conflict.

When it comes to relatively recent and very contentious issues, eg the middle east, regrettably there are many historians who are unable or unwilling to overcome bias.
