I got friends that don't really get down in the live beat making mode, they prefer a slower step/ piano roll approach. they hip hop as Fuck too... just cause they don't get down on the mpc or maschine or mv or what ever doesn't matter. hip hop is not a commercial image to be bought and sold at the music gear store. its a mentality. USE WHAT WORKS FOR YA WORKFLOW... not what people around you tell you you need.

(I really want to get into a sociological discussion about how people use what they can afford, how this changes over time and how this ultimately effects what we, the consumer, hear when we listen to music, but I'm not going to.)
